                Staff Relationship Workshops

Remaining True to Yourself:  The goal in relationship is to remain true to yourself regardless of how others are behaving.  When in relationship, personal or professional...young or old...we will encounter "trigger" people.  These are individuals who have the ability to "knock you off your center".  There are methods of decreasing these experiences to ensure positive self-esteem and to reduce the power these situations have over you and your actions.

Diversity As A Resource:  Two of the same just makes more of the same.  Looking at the unique qualities a person has to offer in a relationship will increase the richness of the experience, the productivity, and the team potential.  This opportunity, if taken, will provide lasting effects for systems.  Someone who thinks differently than you is not your opponent, rather, offers the opportunities to expand upon who you are.  Understanding that we don't all have to be alike is the first step.  The second would be to make room for other people's meanings in our own understanding of the world.  This workshop allows your staff to begin to explore diversity as a resource to induce the potential of your team.

Team Building:  Through a series of team-building ex cerises, your staff can come to vulnerably know one another and break barriers that interfere with relationship development and increase the effectiveness of the team.  Once there is a comfort between staff members, there is a focus on team task completion that will induce and strengthen organizational unity.

Everyone Behaves and Misbehaves:  This seminar addresses the challenging behaviors that are sometimes present in the home, social environment and in the school setting.  Developing a plan and being prepared to address the behavior are our greatest tools.  This allows for clear expectation of self and the person demonstrating an undesired behavior.  Children and adults can present with these behaviors in the form of poor listening; inability to follow directions; struggles with authority; lack of physical or emotional control; sharing; patience; tolerance of others; focus and concentration; self-esteem, etc.  Regardless of the behavior or the age of the person, behavior management is a wonderful method for increasing desired behavior.

Good Teaching Means Taking Care of You:  In today's society, teachers are eager to meet the needs of their classroom responsibilities; administrative duties; and family life.  Many receive messages that support self-deprivation and sacrifice, leaving us empty and resentful.  Learn the importance of self-value and care and how it enriches your personal and professional performance.

How to Effectively Communicate With Parents:  This workshop will share tools and techniques that will enhance communication between the school and families.  Breaking social barriers; entering into genuine and empathetic relationship; and empowering and respecting the family as a strong resource are just some of the highlights during this experiential workshop.  We also provide procedures to open and maintain healthy duologue with even the most challenging people.  This workshop truly facilitates the existence of a comprehensive and effective educational team:  the professional staff, the student, and the family.

Stress Management:  Teachers and supportive educational staff are all too familiar with self sacrifice.  It is a constant struggle to meet the demands of the student, classroom, parent and administration.  Often, we leave our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs unmet increasing the likelihood of illness, fatigue, and emotional unrest.  This workshop employs resources and interventions that will reduce stress in the workplace and its impact on home life functioning.

Parent Teacher Conferences:
This workshop will help you prepare and plan for a successful parent teacher conference.  There are certain methods and procedures introduced during this workshop that will help facilitate healthy interactions and communication.

Staff Safety:
Most of the time, teachers' hands are busy holding books, keys, briefcases and whatever else we need to grab!  We are prime targets for harm.  During this workshop, learn about defending yourself and your family.  We offer techniques that will promote safety while in parking lots, elevators, driving, and pedestrian walking.  An awareness of your environment, danger, and prevention will be highlighted during this seminar.  This workshop is a must for teachers on the go.

Its more than just two people talking:  In a relationship, each individual will bring beliefs, values, bias, and projection.  Race, class, gender, and ethnicity are just some factors that may influence how we function during interaction.  These issues interfere with or compliment the dialogue and behavior occurring between two people.  Identifying and addressing these issues will promote optimal relationship health between family members and the educational staff.  This workshop will focus on relationship development between the home and school participants.  The experience will promote safety and trust between the two parties while deconstructing preexisting understandings of these contextual variables to allow for genuine relationship to commence.

Relational themes in the classroom:  Relationship themes surface everywhere!  We carry them in our families, friendships, and work relationships.  Sometimes, these themes are barriers to healthy interaction.  This workshop will help you identify troublesome themes that may interfere with colleague, student, and parent relationships and help you map out a plan to promote healthy work relationships.

Birth Order in the classroom family:  The classroom community is very much like a family.  Teachers and students spend more time with each other than some families are able to do.  Birth order positions begin to surface and individuals begin to act out their family roles with peers and teachers.  Explore how birth order impacts how you and your students function in the classroom.
