EF as a Resource for Mental Health Professionals

Embracing Family is a relationship education organization committed to facilitating the growth of individuals and their families. EF is an excellent alternative to individual, couple, or family therapy. Many, for various reasons, are not prepared for therapy or their level of functioning does not warrant seeking extensive counseling. EF is a positive vehicle toward or at the closure of the therapeutic experience. Our consultants provide exciting and interactive workshops addressing individual and group issues impacting the health of relationships. Through the employment of these workshops, participants have the opportunity of increasing the quality of their family interaction.

Our diverse group of consultants specialize in various areas of interest. Many families are confronted with the following issues:
Birth of children and their impact on the marriage and older siblings
                  Adoption
Managing behaviors with a realistic developmental perspective
The grieving process of adjusting to a child’s disability
Addressing concerns of a special needs child while considering the other siblings
Biases about gender in the family and social systems
The impact of family of origin on current family functioning
Contextual variables influencing optimal relationship functioning
Balancing parenthood with the couplehood is a challenging negotiation process
                  Life after the kids leave
Life in the home of a teenager
                  In-laws
                  Boundaries and rules for children
Boundaries and rules for the couple
Conflicting messages about being a woman
Conflicting messages about being a man
Negotiating home responsibilities when both parents work
Negotiating home and work as a single parent
Dealing with distance when a partner travels
Life with children and aging parents
                  Blended Families

Embracing Family incorporates race, gender, ethnicity, class, and culture when sharing information with families. We apply a narrative and phenomenological approach to normalize experiences and remain respectful to all being heard. The above described are just some of the many topics discussed during EF workshops. We also offer private educational consultations for individuals not comfortable in a group environment. We are sure your clients will enhance emotional wellness while enjoying an entertaining and engaging experience.

Remember: You can ask for a custom designed workshop to address the needs of your staff and family. An EF consultant will meet with you and then create a staff development seminar that touches the issues and concerns you identify.
